HOLCIM-PRB'S IMOCA
Following the abandonment of the Switchback project for The Ocean Race, Team Holcim-PRB acquired the hull designed by Verdier in January 2022, built in the famous Jason Carrington shipyard in England. The hull, initially designed for The Ocean Race project, has undergone significant modifications in order to meet the expectations of single-handed offshore racing.
Unlike previous generation IMOCAs, the current trend is to add volume to the bow. Like many monohulls of the same era, the bow is wider and more powerful, to prevent the boat from sinking into the waves.
Caractéristiques
The objective for a round-the-world race is to have a boat that is as stable as possible, capable of achieving medium speeds easily, without being limited to very high speeds. The deck plan has also been revised, and new generation foils have been installed.
This IMOCA, originally designed for pure performance in crewed racing, remains very versatile. In fact, after finishing 4th in the last Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe, the boat Holcim-PRB won the first two legs of this legendary race and finished 2nd in the 3rd leg from Cape Town to ItajaÃ, the longest leg ever in this race (34 days).
IMOCA
During the 4th leg of this crewed round-the-world race with stopovers, the IMOCA Holcim-PRB dismasted. It was able to resume racing in the 5th leg after retrieving a mast and finished 2nd in the overall standings of The Ocean Race.
After the end of The Ocean Race, Nicolas Lunven took the helm of the monohull in the fall of 2023, with the ambition of participating in the 2024 Vendée Globe. Nicolas Lunven took part in several major events. He competed in Retour à la Base, followed by The Transat CIC, and more recently, the transatlantic race New York - Vendée Les Sables d'Olonne.

The Holcim-PRB Team, consisting of about fifteen people, is preparing for two major challenges: the 2024 Vendée Globe and The Ocean Race Europe 2025.
Each member brings their expertise, from logistics to communication, to ensure the performance of skippers Nicolas Lunven and Rosalin Kuiper. This collaboration embodies a collective effort to shine on the global sailing stage, combining passion and excellence in competition.
